JOB DESCRIPTION
  1. Job responsibilities include those listed in competencies document
  2. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. 
  3. Implements, maintains, and evaluates the activity therapy program developed to meet the treatment goals of the inpatient psychiatric patient
  4. Flexes and adapts program to meet the constantly changing needs and limitations of the unit milieu
  5. Plans special events to enhance the regular activity schedule, i.e., holidays.
  6. Performs Group Leadership Role 
  7. Conducts group on time or communicates changes to staff and patients in advance
  8. Obtains group coverage when unavailable – Informs other staff members of available materials and equipment when they are assigned group responsibilities
  9. Involved in developing a list a groups that shows a balance of physical, cognitive, and recreational focus- Demonstrates proficiency in facilitating groups in each of these areas
  10. Documents group attendance and patient progress toward meeting established goals for the specific group -Demonstrates proficiency in facilitating groups in these areas
  11. Documents patient’s treatment plan in a timely manner- Adjusts as necessary
  12. Communicates pertinent data obtained in groups to appropriate staff
  13. Collaborates with director regarding budget concerns and requests
  14. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
  15. Exhibits excellent knowledge of hospital administration policies 
  16. Displays strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills 
  17. Exhibits outstanding time management and organizational skills 
  18. Assists in keeping the unit and activities department stocked with necessary supplies
  19. Has excellent coordination, analyzing, and observational skills to help maintain safety on the unit
  20. Identifies and reports any pertinent/significant changes in patient condition/mental status to appropriate team members. (Shares behavioral observations and insights)

Job Type: Full time; 80 hours biweekly; as scheduled.

Qualifications/Training:

  • Zero to less than 1 year of related work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education

  • Bachelors’ degree in Human Service Fields and/or Activity Professional Certification (nccap)
