The Cardiac Device Technician is responsible for placing monitoring devices on patients that have been ordered by providers. The technician supports the monitoring process of patients through a cardiac device interface that constantly observes and documents the cardiac rhythm of patients assigned to device monitoring systems. The Technician alerts the ordering provider assigned to the patients of any changes in cardiac rate or rhythm via alerts and end of device reports. The Device Technician does not supervise other employees but works closely with the Device Clinic RN, Physicians and APP’s.
Schedules patients for monitor and device clinic days
Works in conjunction with Device Clinic RN to ensure device clinic reports are monitored daily and clinic runs efficiently
Registers all patients in the Device Software system that monitors device readings
Monitor patient’s EKG rhythm reports and patient alerts daily and communicates to the ordering providers abnormal results
Documents EKG rhythms and rate information for patients in the EMR system.
Revalidates skills for arrhythmia recognition annually and as requested by manager.
Compiles End of Report documentation and submits report to ordering provider for signature
Responsible for scanning results from outside Monitoring software into EMR system

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Licenses and/or Certifications:
EKG technician certification required
Rhythm Analysis Technician certification
