JOB DESCRIPTION
- Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values
- Greets visitors and patients and handles incoming telephone calls in a friendly and courteous manner:
- Responds immediately by acknowledging new arrivals in a courteous manner
- Answers telephone within three rings using good customer service skills to ascertain the nature of the call
- Delivers accurate and legible messages to appropriate person within 15 minutes of the call
- Maintains confidentiality in talking with patients, upholding policies and setting an example
- Provides phone coverage for team members as needed
- Responsible for timely and accurate patient registration and check-in:
- Directs patient to complete new patient information forms and insurance information
- Verifies established patient information and has patient complete a new patient information form as changes occur to include copies of new insurance cards
- Obtains assignment and authorization signatures, copies of insurance cards and necessary claim forms
- Collects insurance copayments and documents accurate amount on encounter form
- Maintains new patient ID ledger and assures accurate patient ID # is placed on appropriate documentation in the chart
- Responsible for processing medical records request:
- Completes medical records request in a timely manner (7 working days)
- Confirms that proper authorization is received with request to include patient signature and date not to exceed six months
- Confirms physician review and signature for release of records after copies are made
- Confirms that accurate billing for records (per South Carolina guidelines) is complete and billing invoice is included
- Performs a variety of clerical support functions:
- Processes encounter forms for next day appointments
- Inform PSC’s of any charts not pulled for the next day appointments and assures that all charts have been pulled by 5:30pm
- Maintains supplies for new patient chart packets and encounter forms and reports in a timely manner when supplies are needed to assure adequate inventory
- Displays ability to operate office equipment, such as fax, copier, calculator, etc.
- All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Qualifications /Training:
Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
HS diploma preferred/GED preferred from an accredited school.
