Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations

  • Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
  • Responds immediately by acknowledging new arrivals in a courteous manner
  • Answers telephone within three rings using good customer service skills to ascertain the nature of the call
  • Delivers accurate and legible messages to appropriate person within 15 minutes of the call
  • Repeats key information when taking messages to ensure accuracy
  • Uses proper telephone etiquette when receiving and transferring calls; speaks clearly and concisely and exercises tact and diplomacy
  • Maintains confidentiality in talking with patients, upholding policies and setting an example
  • Directs patient to complete new patient information forms and insurance information and enters the data in the computer
  • Verifies established patient information
  • Informs patient of their financial obligation, collecting co-pays, co-insurance and payments on “bad debt” before being seen
  • Obtains assignment and authorization signatures, copies of insurance cards, and necessary claims forms
  • Verifies Medicaid eligibility, making sure correct Medicaid carrier is set
  • Schedules appointments in a timely manner
  • Handle Fax inbox daily
  • Files all information into the charts
  • Maintains confidentiality of records and follows office policy regarding the release of information
  • Puts accurate charges on superbill and total for each patient
  • Confirms that the superbill has a diagnosis and has been signed by the physician
  • Collects the amount due from each patient, if anything was missed at check-in
  • Posts transactions and registers payments on the system and completes the daily report
  • Balances revenues to match deposits and receipts
  • Help train new employees
  • Open communication with staff and providers

 

Qualifications /Training:

  • Minimum of two-year experience in health care.

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school
