JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations

1. Job responsibilities include those listed in competencies document

2. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.

3. Responds immediately by acknowledging new arrivals in a courteous manner

4. Answers telephone within three rings using good customer service skills to ascertain the nature of the call

5. Delivers accurate and legible messages to appropriate person within 15 minutes of the call

6. Repeats key information when taking messages to ensure accuracy

7. Uses proper telephone etiquette when receiving and transferring calls; speaks clearly and concisely and exercises tact and diplomacy

8. Maintains confidentiality in talking with patients, upholding policies and setting an example

9. Directs patient to complete new patient information forms and insurance information and enters the data in the computer

10. Verifies established patient information

11. Informs patient of their financial obligation, collecting co-pays, co-insurance and payments on “bad debt” before being seen

12. Obtains assignment and authorization signatures, copies of insurance cards, and necessary claims forms

13. Verifies Medicaid eligibility, making sure correct Medicaid carrier is set

14. Schedules appointments in a timely manner

15. Handle Fax inbox daily

16. Files all information into the charts

17. Maintains confidentiality of records and follows office policy regarding the release of information

18. Puts accurate charges on superbill and total for each patient

19. Confirms that the superbill has a diagnosis and has been signed by the physician

20. Collects the amount due from each patient, if anything was missed at check-in

21. Posts transactions and registers payments on the system and completes the daily report

22. Balances revenues to match deposits and receipts

23. Help train new employees

24. Open communication with staff and providers

Job Requirements

Qualifications /Training:

  • Minimum of two year experience in health care.

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school
