Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – Inpatient Oncology Job Summary

•    Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. •    Works as a team member with a positive attitude when interacting with other department employees including pharmacy students and residents in addition to other hospital personnel. •    Knowledgeable in medications and exhibits the clinical and professional skills to positively interact with physicians, nurses, residents, students, and other health care practitioners. •    Knows and follows institutional pharmacy policies and procedures and medication policies and procedures. •    Knows and follows state and federal laws regarding dispensing of medications. •    Accurately interprets and enters medication orders in the computer for drug administration. •    Contacts the provider in a timely manner when there is a concern about a medication order as needed. •    Works primarily in a decentralized model providing comprehensive clinical pharmacy services including but not limited to pharmacokinetics, drug dosing consultations, and adult parenteral nutrition management. •    Provide drug information, drug therapy recommendations, and education to physicians, nurses, patients, pharmacy staff, pharmacy residents and students related to assigned clinical areas. •    Reporting of adverse drug events (ADE) within assigned clinical areas. •    Development of department educational/monitoring tools and in-services to promote continued growth of clinical pharmacy services and up to date practice as it pertains assigned clinical areas. •    Assist with protocol development as necessary related to assigned clinical areas. •    Participate in hospital committees related to assigned clinical areas where pharmacy involvement is needed. •    Review appropriate use of medications to include optimization of use and cost considerations.

Work Schedule: 80 Hours Biweekly. Full Time

Qualifications /Training: •    PGY1, required •    Ability to work independently, required

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education: •    Baccalaureate degree or PharmD Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, required •    Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina
