Job Description
  1. Promoting the use of the process approach and risk-based thinking;
  2. Engaging, directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system requirements.
  3. Responsible for the day to day operation, and management of the Operating Room, Same Day Surgery Unit, Post Anesthesia Care and Central Sterile.
  4. Storage and Safety of Medications
  5. Can identify those items stored in the supply room that are considered medications (large volume IV’s, alcohol, saline, medications in packaged kits.)
  6. Understand the importance of securing all medications under lock and key.
  7. Demonstrates appropriate handling and storage of medication.
  8. Counsels employees and takes appropriate disciplinary actions.
  9. Elevate skill of professional and non-professional staff by observation and written appraisal.
  10. Promotes open communication within the unit and with other units and departments.
  11. Encourage the personal and professional development of the staff.
  12. Manages operational aspects of the unit in collaboration with administration.
  13. Formulates and interprets policies, directive, and procedures to unit personnel.
  14. Collaborates with support service to provide a safe, clean, and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  15. Plans and conduct at least six (6) staff meetings per year.
  16. Coordinates the annual departmental expense and revenue budgets for the departments within the surgical services line. Monitors for compliance with budget allocations and manage the strategies identified as necessary to ensure compliance.
  17. Contributes to patient services and the hospital through support of philosophy and objectives, policies, procedures and educational efforts.
  18. Coordinates and effective patient concern and complaints management programs in Surgical Services.
  19. Consistently recognizes potential or real problems as they arise, presents workable solutions, and participate in their implementation with a positive attitude.
  20. Provide administrative direction to development and elevation of personnel.

Qualifications /Training:

  • At least 3 years of total related work experience

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:

  • Licensed as RN in SC
  • BS in Nursing or an Associate in Nursing with a Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • CNOR preferred, or obtained within 3 years of hire.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time, 80 hrs bi-weekly.
