Director of Laboratory (FT) – Seacoast (near Myrtle Beach)

Position located near beautiful Myrtle Beach, SC!!  Sign on bonus and relocation offered!

  1. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.  

  2. Shall demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the quality management system by: 

(a) promoting the use of the process approach and risk-based thinking 

(b) engaging, directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system requirements 

(c) promoting improvement 

  1. Establishes and maintains an effective preventive maintenance program for all instruments and equipment in area of responsibility. 

  1. Plans, organizes, and evaluates the technical activities and functions of the laboratory department 

  1. Responsible for the development of capital budgets, and operational budgets 

  1. Oversees departmental training, equipment maintenance, and quality control. 

  1. Assures that the laboratory department is in compliance with all state, federal, and regulatory agencies. 

  1. Responsible for the interpreting, developing and enforcing of policies and procedures of the hospital and the department. 

  1. Works with Directors on clinical integration. 

  1. Ensures the preparation and accuracy of reports, documents, payroll records and statistical surveys required by role. 

  1. Evaluates and submits requests for grants and new equipment. 

  1. Coordinates department purchases including contracts and agreements, ensuring adequate stock levels of supplies. 

  1. Provides leadership, development and guidance to the staff ensuring they meet qualifications, coordination of continued education and required competencies. 

  1. Ensures daily departmental charges are accurate and complete.  

14.  Recognizes and Leads unit with positive change in operations, position routines and management to meet the goals of the unit to provide optimal operations and achieve quality services. 

15.  Performs all other job duties as needed. 


Qualifications /Training: 

  • Qualified to perform moderate and highly complexity testing as defined by CLIA 88  


  • Minimum of  a Baccalaureate degree in Health Science from an accredited school 

  • Certification by recognized national certifying agency
