Dispatcher – Patient Flow Center
Job Summary
” Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. ” Shall demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the quality management system by: (a) promoting the use of the process approach and risk-based thinking (b) engaging, directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system requirements (c) promoting improvement. ” Responsible for handling all of the external transportation coordination needs for patients leaving and arriving to the hospital. ” Assist in coordinating the use of alternate transport services as needed. ” Effectively communicates and demonstrates service excellence focused telephone etiquette to ensure an easy, empathetic, and solution-oriented experience. ” Efficiently screens incoming calls, escalating urgent and emergent situations to the appropriate person. ” Facilitates the insurance pre-authorization process for non-emergency transport requests. ” Obtains quotes for private pay or other transports as requested. ” Coordinates with non-medical transport companies to ensure patients are able to get to and from the hospital in a safe and efficient way. ” Completes daily checks for pre-scheduled trips to confirm appointment and pick up times. ” Coordinate ambulance transfers from the McLeod Health hospitals to other facilities and post-acute care providers. ” Records information via computer aided dispatch (CAD) system. ” Demonstrates proficiency and skill in responding to multi-channel communication and in multi-tasking. ” Monitors real time transport turnaround times, escalated request, and delayed request. ” Monitors preferred provider response times and performance for compliance with requirements of agreement, escalate issues as appropriate. ” Monitors projected discharges and transfers per unit daily. ” All other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 72 Hours Biweekly. Full time. 7a 7p and/or 7p 7a.
Qualifications /Training: Minimum of 3 years healthcare experience Minimum 2 years data entry/computer experience Advanced knowledge of Windows based computer systems Written and verbal communication skills with persons of all ages and diverse backgrounds Knowledge of medical terminology
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education: Minimum of High School Diploma/GED from accredited school EMT certification preferred
