JOB DESCRIPTION
Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
Provides quality leadership to subordinate staff that encourages and promotes an environment of creativity, friendliness, customer service and positive staff-member relations.
Ensures Group Fitness Instructors consistently provide quality exercise class instruction according to MHFC standards.
Identifies and utilizes current member interest plus fitness industry trends to offer classes that are current and relevant to the requests and needs of our members.
Frequently attends classes to maintain friendly, open and helpful relationships with staff and members, as well as to identify issues, concerns and problem operations.
Represents the facility at health and wellness events and gives presentations to various community and corporate groups to build awareness of services offered at the facility.
Manages Group Fitness Class offerings.
Monitors fitness program progress by auditing attendance, identifying problems areas and initiating recommendations.
Conducts program participant surveys to respond to market and participant needs.
Implements motivational tools to increase clientele and member to member relationships.
Develops Staff
Interview and hire qualified candidates. Recommends dismissals of Staff.
Regularly observes Group Fitness staff instructing and conducting classes to provide assistance/feedback as needed and to evaluate performance.
Coordinates and conducts new and continuing training programs for staff as needed.
Interacts with other staff members in a positive, professional manner.
Contributes new ideas and suggestions. Takes initiative.
Completes all staff evaluations in a fair and timely manner.
Completes assigned work on time.
Strives to provide a safe environment.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by remaining current with industry trends and acquiring necessary continuing education credits for certification.
Ensures all staff practice proper body mechanics.
Maintains current CPR and First Aid, AED training certification.
Ensures all policies and procedures of the department and center are being followed by members, guest and staff.
Attends CPR, First Aid, and AED practice sessions, participate in drills.
Attends actively participates and conducts staff training as scheduled. Reports all incidences of injuries using the proper forms and submits to the Director of Fitness Services.
Contributes to the Team effort.
Conducts and actively participates in staff meetings as scheduled.
Actively participates in department and managerial meetings by sharing ideas and comments along with consistent attendance.
Interacts with other staff members in a positive, professional manner.
Participates in the Manager On Duty (MOD) rotation.
Contributes to newsletters as requested.
Participates in department and center events.
Assists with community events as needed.
Limits Group Fitness Instruction to a maximum of 14 total per week unless needed in emergency.
Qualifications /Training:
General computer keyboard typing skills required. Must possess competent knowledge of exercise principles, health risks, and fitness program design. Excellent communication, motivational, coaching, and organizational skills required. Three years of Supervisory experience required.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school required.
Current CPR/AED certifications required.
Group Fitness and/or Personal Training Certification from an organization recognized by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) required.
