JOB DESCRIPTION
  1. Interpret the applicable federal and state law and regulations to determine compliance with such regulations, plan audit parameters and communicate necessary changes in compliance with regulatory requirements to all affected parties. 
  2. Maintain an up-to-date HIPAA Privacy compliance program.  
  3. Handle privacy complaints, do investigations, determine root cause and address violations per policy.
  4. Advocates and protects patient privacy by serving as a key privacy advisor for patients and managing patient requests regarding their medical record.
  5. Manage Business Associate Agreements review, execution and retention.
  6. Develop and execute a system-wide compliance audit plan, effective tools, and methodologies to ensure data integrity and compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to health care program requirements for privacy.
  7. Develop and understanding of the operations, system processes and procedures used in the areas being audited.
  8. Conduct privacy compliance audits and review the results then devise appropriate recommendations and
  9. corrective action plans.
  10. Maintain a focus on high-risk areas to determine if appropriate controls are in place to adequately mitigate risks.
  11. Manage the performance of subsequent audits to ensure completeness and oversees the execution of corrective action plans.
  12. Work in conjunction with the HIPAA Security Administrator on the successful development, execution and completing of the annual HIPAA Audit Schedule.
  13. Generate periodic reports to the Corporate HIPAA Officer on the state of Privacy compliance.

Qualifications/Education/Training:

  1. Minimum of five years of regulatory auditing experience preferred.
  2. Be able to demonstrate a competence in performing audits, produce reports, formulate remediation or mitigation plans, and conducting follow-up audits.
  3. Must have project management experience. 
  4. Must have a proficiency in MS Office applications. 
  5. Bachelor’s degree in business related discipline required.

  Licenses and/or Certifications:

Certification in industry related discipline preferred
