Job Summary

  • Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
  • Provides personal care and homemaker services to McLeod patients in their place of residence, under the supervision of an RN, PT or OT.
  • Directly accountable to the Team Clinical Manager, McLeod Home Health and receives direct and indirect supervision by the patient’s RN or Therapist on a periodic schedule.
  • At least one year of related work experience preferred but not required. Must be empathetic, responsible, able to use time effectively, willing to accept supervision and relate well to patients and families.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally, will involve some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling, pushing and pulling with frequent standing and walking; requires manual dexterity with ability to perceive size, shape, temperature or texture; auditory and visual perception required with attention to verbal abilities and color discrimination.
  • All general population. The primary age served as indicated above. Age specific characteristics will be reviewed annually through independent learning provided by the age-specific self-study module. At the end of each review period, each employee will be evaluated on age-specific characteristics within the clinical area, and be able to appropriately communicate to patients and families using characteristics based on each age group served.
  • Includes positions which are required to perform procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues or a potential for spills or splashes of them. The use of appropriate protective measure is required and includes; gloves, mask, safety glasses, protective clothing covers (head cover, plastic apron or cover gown, shoe covers) are to be worn appropriately according to the type of procedure or tasks. Probable or suspected exposure must be considered by the individual when judging the extent of personal protective clothing and equipment that should be worn.

Work Schedule: 80 Hours Biweekly. Full Time


  • Must have High School Diploma. Nursing Assistant Training Completion that includes a 75-hour Nursing Assistant Course with 16 hours being supervised practical training.
  • One year home care highly desirable.
  • Two or more years’ experience preferred. Must pass a written competency test and a competency skills checklist during orientation.


  • Must possess a current valid SC driver’s license and automobile insurance as required by law. Must be at least 21 years old to be covered under McLeod Health’s fleet vehicle insurance policy.
  • Must meet McLeod policy for driving eligibility. License and registration as required by state law.
  • CNA License or completion of CNA course and satisfactory competency test, BLS Certification. Possession of professional liability insurance is encouraged
