Lab Clinical Coordinator (1st shift) – Loris

- Organize and perform analysis of specimens to include quality control.
- Evaluate validity of results obtained. Record and report results.
- Perform routine and pre-routine maintenance.
- Develop personal knowledge of trends, developments, and techniques through journals and trade publications, in-service programs, and continuing education.
- Collect, prepare, store and/or transport specimens using correct techniques, anticoagulants, and protocol.
- Review worksheet status, technical inquiry, uncollected tests and printed worksheets for technical and clerical accuracy and assure necessary corrections to appropriate records are made.
- When assigned coordinates and supervises daily technical activities.
- Analyze processes of highly complex testing to validate results and quality assurance.
- Coordinate teaching assignments: Precept new employee or student
- Serve as the primary technical resource and provide consultation to healthcare staff
- Clearly communicate with staff regarding technical issues.
- Oversee the inventory of supplies and reagents
- Develop and oversee verification/validation studies for instrumentation, methods, and tests.
- Review quality control, proficiency results, patient results, and method comparisons; identify and correct performance problems in these areas.
- Evaluate and make recommendations for process improvements to Lab Administration
- Assist the Administrative Director of Laboratory with the competency program to ensure that lab policies and accrediting agency requirements are followed.
- Assist with the CAP checklist and any other regulatory agency requirements.
- Accountable for the oversight of instrument maintenance and calibrations; performs advance troubleshooting when needed.
- Coordinate new employee orientation and training within the department.
- Complete 12 hours of continuing education per year required by NAACLS.
- Perform other duties assigned by the laboratory administration team.
- Minimum of twelve months training in accredited school of medical technology or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical laboratory
- Preferred certification by recognized national certifying agency.
- Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or in appropriate biological, chemical or physical science from an accredited school or an Associate degree in Applied Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
