JOB DESCRIPTION
Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-
workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
Answers telephone within three rings using good customer service skills to ascertain the nature of the call as
needed.
Repeats key information when taking messages to ensure accuracy as needed.
Uses proper telephone etiquette when receiving and transferring calls; speaks clearly and concisely and exercises
tact and diplomacy.
Maintains confidentiality in talking with patients, upholding policies and setting an example.
Keeps work area neat, clear of clutter.
Listen to the recorded dictation of health care professional.
Transcribes and interprets the dictation into diagnostic test results, operative reports, referral letters, and other
documents.
Review and edit drafts prepared by speech recognition software, making sure that the transcription is correct,
complete, and has a consistent style.
Translate medical abbreviations and jargon into the appropriate long form.
Identify inconsistencies, errors, and missing information within a report that could compromise patient care.
Follow up with the healthcare provider to ensure the accuracy of the reports.
Submit health records for physician to approve.
Follow patient confidentiality guidelines and legal documentation requirements.
Enter medical reports into electronic health record system.
Perform quality improvement audits.
Demonstrates a willingness to perform the duties of other department personnel when workload requires
Qualifications /Training:
Basic knowledge of computer input.
Must be able to perform basic clerical functions.
Excellent comprehension of medical terminology.
Excellent spelling and skills.
Excellent typing skills.
Clear, concise voice
