JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-

workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.

2. Referral Clerk Tasks.

a. Consistently answer phone within 3 rings.

b. Consistently use excellent phone etiquette when speaking with patients or referral offices.

c. Consistently use courteous manner when speaking with patients face to face.

d. Coordinate the process of referring patients to appropriate clinics.

e. Communicate with patients to ensure follow-through with referrals.

f. Support doctors and patients in synchronizing appointments, authorizations, and tests taking place in different clinics.

g. Ensure insurances are compatible with referrals.

h. Organize work list to ensure patients are triaged correctly with referrals.

i. Organize work list ensuring multiple doctor request are handled timely.

j. Coordinate with all clinical and clerical staff as needed to complete the referral process.

k. Work quickly and timely in software system to take care of all request.

l. Set goals with Administrator to meet the high demand of referrals.

m. Handles all forms or paperwork as necessary for the referral position.

n. Maintains confidentiality in talking with patients, upholding policies and setting an example.

o. Demonstrates a willingness to perform the duties of other department personnel when workload requires.

Job Requirements

Qualifications /Training:

Basic knowledge of computer input.

Must be able to perform basic clerical functions.

Comprehend medical terminology.

Good spelling and number skills.

Clear, concise voice.

Basic knowledge of ICD and CPT coding not required but very helpful

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:

Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school
