JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Summary: 

Provides day-to-day leadership on all Human Resources Operations matters and executes HR strategies by establishing departmental accountabilities including but not limited to: recruitment and staffing, compensation and benefits administration, employee partner relations and retention, organizational learning, HRIS and records management. Supports the McLeod Health leadership team through organizational astuteness, information analysis, and leadership and counsel on human resources matters. Guides management and employee partners by researching, developing, writing, and updating HR policies, procedures, and guidelines. Achieves project objectives and expected outcomes by identifying and prioritizing issues, effectively communicating and coordinating requirements, and changing direction if needed.  Manages HR budgetary needs by forecasting financial needs, developing and monitoring adherence the budget, analyzing results, and minimizing impact of variances. Fosters teamwork, provides guidance and leadership to HR staff. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local legal requirements. Maintains and updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.

  • Demonstrated effectiveness with strong written communication skills including report presentation required 

  • Evidence of effective people leadership, interpersonal and consensus building skills required  

  • Strong analytical and operational problem solving/decision making skills required  

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional business teams effectively to select, change and implement best practices when geographic and historical barriers exists required. 

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain various types of data to guide decision making and reporting required.  

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft software including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.  

  • Evidence and knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis required.  

Other:  

  • Valid and in good standing drivers license required 

  • Evidence and knowledge of quality systems, Lean, Six Sigma and continuous improvement project systems preferred; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification preferred. 

  • Strong working knowledge of HRIS Administration strongly preferred. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

Light-Medium Physical Agility Test Rating  (PAT) 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job and will be tested by post offer PAT. 

Experience:  

Minimum of five years Healthcare Human Resources leadership experienced Required. 

Education:

Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or closely related field required.  Masters degree preferred.

Certification:  

PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
