JOB DESCRIPTION

The construction estimator should estimate overall costs of a renovation or new construction project including materials and labor. The estimator shall also track project costs and work with finance to reconcile budgets with costs. Additional duties as follows:

 

1. Analyze construction documents and identify materials needed for project in an effort to estimate cost of renovation or construction,
2. Develop project budget based on materials and labor, understanding how production of materials impacts time.
3. Tracking job costs of construction projects by forecasting costs and reconciling actual costs provided by finance from vendor invoices
4. Evaluate change orders and pay applications for projects against job cost and ensure accuracy.
5. Working with stakeholders to further refine project budget and duration.
6. Provide monthly job cost reports on all construction projects to VP Facilities Management. 
7. Interacts with clients, architects, engineers, local AHJ to understand and incorporate projects costs and objectives.

Work Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly

 

Qualifications/Training:

Proficiency in mathematics and data analysis and familiarity with spreadsheets and other analytics tools. Proficient at reading and interpreting construction documents (“blueprints”). 5 years or more of experience estimating commercial construction projects. Individual must have excellent written communication and interpersonal skills. Must maintain professionalism when faced with aggressive deadlines. 

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, finance, accounting, statistics, construction management or other related field preferred.
