Essential Job Responsibilities
1. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. 2. Provides advanced lactation support and education to inpatient and outpatient populations of infants, pregnant and postpartum mothers.3. Knowledgeable in the concepts and steps of the Baby Friendly initiative and supports the initiatives beliefs and values.4. Leads classes for new and expectant mothers and their families5. Ability to work in a variety of settings (industry, community, telehealth, civic groups, class room style)6. Works to support state initiatives such as Birth Comes, Baby Friendly, Safe Sleep7. Actively engaged in staff and physician training8. Interacts with multidisciplinary team around infant/mother concerns9. Helps New or Expectant mothers with necessary resources (equipment, support, aid) for breast feeding success10. Encourages clinical staff to manage basic breast feeding concepts11. Uses good time management skills to address all consults in a timely manner12. Ensure all documentation is completed timely and accurately to ensure consistency in communication with other care givers13. Able to function independently within 6 month time frame14. Conducts follow-up phone call to breast feeding mothers
Work Hours: Flexible scheduling primarily Monday through Friday 8:00 until 5:30 with occasional nights, weekends and holidays in a PRN as needed capacity.
Qualifications /Training:
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:• Must possess a valid SC license – RN, BLS• Certified as Lactation Counselor
