Medication Safety Officer – Corporate Pharmacy
The Medication Safety Officer works as a part of a multidisciplinary team to monitor, analyze and proactively assess risks in the medication management processes within McLeod Health. He/She coordinates activities of the medication safety committee and works closely with nursing administration, information systems, and risk management to plan, organize, and implement new policies and processes to ensure the highest quality of patient care possible. The MSO should have clinical expertise and broad understanding of the internal processes of health systems. He/She will assist with protocol and policy development related to medication safety and will develop educational tools to reinforce safety processes. He/She should be knowledgeable in the concepts and application of safety principles, continuous quality improvement, and human factors engineering and knowledge of current trends and development in the medication safety. The MSO should have a passion for improving patient care and enhancing the organizations culture of safety.

Department Description
The Inpatient Pharmacy is made up of a close-knit, energetic staff which focuses on a culture of quality and safety Provides 24-hour Pharmacy services. Use of a decentralized pharmacy model facilitates close collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals, emphasizing the concept of pharmaceutical care. Recently expanded clinical services by adding additional coverage in the ER, ICU, Infectious Diseases and Opioid Stewardship. Pharmacists have the opportunity to work as part of the healthcare team during multidisciplinary rounds, committee participation, and much, much more!

Required Skills/Qualifications /Training:
PGY1, required Ability to work independently, required
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
- Baccalaureate degree or PharmD Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, required
- Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina
- Required Experience
