School of Medical Lab Science
McLeod Health School of Medical Laboratory Science is located on the McLeod Regional Medical Center (MRMC) campus in Florence, SC, with satellite clinical sites. This hospital-based program was established in 1977 to help provide qualified medical technologists to the region. The faculty is composed of Board Certified pathologists and medical technologists. Students rotate through Hematology, Immunochemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Body Fluids, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Phlebotomy during the 12-month (40 hours per week) training program. The program includes both lectures and clinical training. Students receive a certificate upon successful completion of the program. Successful completion qualifies students to sit for a national exam. Applicants must possess a BA or BS degree in biological sciences from an accredited U.S. college or university or be a rising senior attending one of our affiliated institutions. The program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS).
